Lane Energy Poland, an exploratory subsidiary of ConocoPhillips, is now extracting some 8,000 cubic metres of shale gas per day at a test well in the northern city of Lebork in Poland. Currently it pays some of the highest gas rates in all of Europe.

E.ON has reported in a news release that its discovery in the UK North Sea could be larger than expected, being one of the major gas discoveries made in this part of North Sea in the last years. The Tolmount gas well is situated near existing gas infrastructure in the UK North Sea and was discovered in the second half of 2011.

Sound Oil plc, an independent oil and gas company, which activates mainly in Indonesia and Italy, has announced a new gas discovery at Nervesa well, in Italy’s Po Valley. A further announcement on total estimated quantities at the site will be made in the coming months, with possible production envisaged for 2015.
