EEX will start trading of Nordic, Swiss and Spanish power futures

The European Energy Bourse, EEX, declared on Monday it will start exchange trading of Nordic, Spanish and Swiss electricity futures on February 16, improving them from membership of its trade registration method.

UK: RWE npower energy supplier reduces gas tariffs by 5.1%

Energy supplier RWE npower, a division of German utility RWE, will reduce British gas tariffs by 5.1 percent starting from February 16 after a decline in wholesale costs, the biggest cut made thus far this year by Britain's largest six energy providers.

Daily: European forward power prices rally to a four-session high

Global oil prices pared a two-day loss and increased by about 2 percent on Wednesday on expectations that prices will rebound as energy companies slashed production investment to ease an oversupply that erased more than half crude’s value since June. Brent crude boosted $1.04 to settle at $49.03 a barrel, while WTI crude climbed $1.31 to close at $47.78 a barrel.

Independent UK energy provider Ecotricity to reduce gas prices
