Gazprom to extend its underground gas storages to unfreeze Europe

Gazprom, Europe’s main supplier of natural gas is planning to invest between 200 million and 300 million euros to double its underground natural gas storage in order to make sure the Siberian cold doesn’t freeze up pipelines, Gazprom Deputy CEO Alexander Medvedev said on Wednesday.

Nord Stream opened by Merkel and Medvedev

The Nord Stream project was officially opened on November 8, in the German town of Lubmin, by the German Chancellor Angela Merkel and the Russian President Dimitry Medvedev. The new gas pipeline will deliver Siberian gas directly to German gas consumers under the Baltic Sea bypassing the transit countries such as Ukraine and Poland.

Shell and Gazprom discuss more LNG supplies to quake-hit Japan

Gazprom and Anglo-Dutch oil major Shell have consolidated their partnership by discussing joint projects in West Siberia and the modalities to increase liquefied natural gas (LNG) deliveries to quake-hit Japan from the Sakhalin-II project, Gazprom said on Tuesday.
