Daily: German spot electricity climbs on colder weather, lower wind

Brent crude oil futures settled higher on Wednesday on encouraging UK jobs data and after U.S. crude oil prices decreased considerably on news of an unplanned constraint on pipeline, which was expected to lessen an oil surplus in the U.S. Midwest and reduce the spread between Brent and U.S. oil prices. Meanwhile, Brent March crude climbed 38 cents, or 0.34 percent, to settle at $112.80 a barrel, having traded from $112.06 to $113.15.

TAQA: Hydrocarbon leak at a key platform in North Sea UK

An important oil pipeline network, which handles about 6% of UK’s oil production, was forced to halt its production following a leak at a key North Sea oil platform. The shutdown was confirmed by Abu Dhabi National Energy Co (TAQA) on January 14, at one of its platforms in the UK North Sea.

Norway proposes tariff cut in its gas pipeline system

Norway's Minister of Petroleum and Energy, Ola Borten Moe, proposed on Tuesday to slash natural gas transport tariffs for new gas contracts, aiming to encourage higher production and exploration in mature fields. Norway is the world`s second largest gas exporter supplying about 18% of Europe’s needs.
