Oil prices moved upwards, snapping a three-day losing streak on Thursday amid increasing Middle East tensions. However, news restrictions to counter the spread of the Delta variant limited gains. Hence, Brent crude rose by 91 cents, or 1.3%, to settle at $71.29 a barrel. U.S. WTI crude rose by 94 cents, or 1.4%, to settle at $69.09 a barrel.

Oil prices slipped on Tuesday as surging cases of the Delta coronavirus variant outweighed expectations for another weekly draw in U.S. inventories. Hence, Brent crude lost 0.7% to settle at $72.41 a barrel. Meanwhile, U.S. WTI crude declined by 1% to close at $70.56 a barrel.

Crude oil prices fell for the second day in a row on Monday as highly contagious Delta variant of coronavirus sparked new mobility restrictions around the world, raising worries about demand recovery. Higher crude output from OPEC producers put further downward pressure on crude prices. Hence, Brent crude shed by 4.9% to settle at $72.58 a barrel. U.S. WTI crude ended 3.6%, lower at $71.26.

Crude oil prices strengthened slightly on Friday, supported by positive data on demand for black gold from the US Energy Information Agency (EIA). Hence, Brent oil edged 0.4% higher at $76.33 a barrel and WTI crude gained 0.5% to $73.95 a barrel.
