China to double natural gas consumption by 2015

The Chinese government has announced last month a new plan which deals with the air pollution problem. China intends to reduce the consumption of fossil fuels in its energy mix to below 65% by 2017, while in 2012 it recorded 66.8%.

China fixed a new solar target for 2015

China has expanded its distributed solar capacity target to 20 GW by 2015. China is set to lead the greatest uptake of solar, with plans to install more than 2GW of photovoltaic (PV) by the end of 2013. It is expected that in 2014 PV installations will rise by 17%, increasing from 15% in 2012 and 13% in 2013. The year 2014 will bring the highest rate of growth since the 35% increase in 2011.

The China-Myanmar gas pipeline was completed and is fully operational

China National Petroleum Corp. has announced that the China- Myanmar gas pipeline was completed on Sunday and has gone fully operational. The project, extending more than 2500 km from western Myanmar to southwest China, will help the world's second-largest economy to supply its growing energy requirements.

Daily: Crude oil prices up on weaker dollar, Chinese economy growth at fastest pace

Crude oil prices settle a little higher on Friday as China unveiled that its economy increased in the third quarter at its fastest pace this year, while the U.S. dollar weakened. On Friday, Brent crude closed 83 cents higher at $109.94 a barrel, while U.S. crude oil boosted 14 cents and settled at $100.81 a barrel.
