Daily (17.02.2021): Oil prices held gains on Tuesday amid global vaccine roll-out, cold weather and hopes about economic recovery

Crude oil prices diverged, but ended little changed on Tuesday, with Brent crude hovering near 13-month highs at $63.35 a barrel, as the market was monitoring the progress of vaccination campaigns against Covid-19. Freezing cold that is hitting the United States and optimism about economic recovery added further support to oil prices. Meanwhile, U.S. WTI crude settled at $60.05 a barrel, declining modestly by 0.2% day-on-day.

Daily (08.02.2021): European carbon prices gained 2.5% on Friday, reaching another record-high

Oil prices edged higher on Friday, as OPEC members maintained optimism regarding recovery of global demand for black gold, at the same time continuing to enforce supply control policies. As a result, Brent crude increased by 0.9% to $59.34 a barrel, and WTI oil closed 1.1% higher at $56.85 a barrel.

Oil prices edged down on Thursday, as uncertainty over the global economic recovery due to soaring COVID-19 infections counterweighed falling U.S. crude inventories. Hence, Brent crude lost 0.5% to close at 55.53 dollars a barrel. Meanwhile, U.S. WTI crude declined by 51 cents, or about 1%, to settle at $52.34 a barrel.

Crude oil futures fell on Monday, weighed down by new travel restriction measures imposed at British borders due to a new strain of coronavirus, reviving concerns over an unsteady recovery in global energy demand. Hence, Brent crude dropped by 2.6% to settle at $50.91 a barrel. Meanwhile, U.S WTI crude closed at $47.97 a barrel, posting a 2.3% loss on a daily basis.
