Daily (18.07.2019): French spot power price plunged by over 9% on Wednesday, amid stronger wind generation and falling consumption

Crude oil prices extended losses on Wednesday, following a higher-than-expected rise in the U.S. refined product inventories. At the same time, official data also showed that U.S. crude inventories fell more than anticipated. Against that background, Brent crude traded 1.1% lower at $63.66 a barrel, while WTI futures dropped by 1.5% $56.78 a barrel.

Daily (21.05.2019): European spot power prices soared by around 16% due to firmer consumption

Oil prices diverged on Monday. OPEC’s intention to maintain output cuts coupled with the escalating tensions in the Middle East sent WTI futures up by 0.5% at 63.10 USD/bbl. Meanwhile, Brent crude lost 0.3% to settle at 71.97 USD/bbl, influenced by the high level of global crude oil inventories.

Daily (25.04.2019): NBP spot spiked by around 15% on Wednesday due to rising consumption

Oil prices were mixed on Wednesday. Brent crude edged 0.1% up at $74.57 a barrel, due to ongoing worries that global oil supply would decline after the termination of U.S. sanction waivers on Iranian oil imports on May 1. In the meantime, WTI futures traded 0.6% down at $65.89 a barrel, weighed by stronger U.S. crude production and stocks.

Daily (28.01.2019): European spot power prices plunged by over 20% due to milder weather and lower consumption

Oil prices were slightly up on Friday, as Venezuelan exports could face potential sanctions from U.S. amid political unrest in Caracas, raising the prospect of reduced crude supply. However, worries over U.S.-China trade dispute and growing U.S. fuel stocks put a lid on prices. As a result, Brent crude added 0.9% to settle at $61.64 a barrel, while WTI futures rose 1.1% to $53.69 a barrel.
