Spanish solar thermal capacity to reach 10GW
According to the released report for sustaining the development of Renewable Energy Plan 2011-2020, solar thermal industry in Spain could reach 10GW of installed capacity by the end of 2020, while the technical-economic potential of solar thermal energy in the Spanish industry accounts for 68GW of installed capacity and annual useful heat of 60 TWh.

UK government to slash feed in tariffs for solar PV installations
The UK government has recently confirmed that it is going to slash feed in tariff support for new domestic photovoltaic installations next year as part of an effort to adjust their incentive mechanisms in order to keep the budget under control and reflect declining PV module prices.

Largest solar plant to be built in Ukraine
One of the largest solar power plants will be built in Southern Ukraine, in Okhotnykovo, Crimea that will produce annually 100,000 MWh of electricity. It will be the fourth most powerful solar park following Canadian Sarnia, Italian Montalto di Castro and German Finsterwalder.

Italian PV market to reach 12.5 GW by the end of 2011
Italian solar power market became one of the largest following the German one, immediately after introducing an incentive system in 2007. In May, the Italian government reduced the feed-in tariffs as to sustain customers. According to the chairman of industry body GIFI, Italy’s total PV installed capacity could rise to 12.0- 12.5 GW by the end of 2011, while the growth will slow next year.

Greece to invest 1 billion euros in solar power
According to the Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister of Greece, Evangelos Venizelos, the country will attempt to accelerate the approval of three PV large-scale photovoltaic projects worth 1 billion euros.
