Daily: British natural gas prices soar as robust demand surpasses supply

Crude oil prices dropped for a third consecutive day on Wednesday, as early rise was curbed by talks of an eventual OPEC output reduction and after the Federal Reserve unveiled minutes of previous month’s policy meeting, voicing its concerns that U.S. inflation could remain below target for "quite some time." Benchmark Brent crude oil declined 37 cents to settle at $78.10 a barrel, after gaining as much as 98 cents during the session. U.S. crude fell 3 cents to close at $74.61, after a session high at $75.40.

Daily: WTI crude posts its longest weekly decline since 1998

Brent crude futures increased 53 cents to settle at $83.39 per barrel on Friday; however it dropped nearly 3 percent for the week, the seventh consecutive week of losses. U.S. crude mounted less than a dollar on Friday but ended down more than 2 percent for the week, recording the first six straight week decline since December 1998. The Friday increase was spurred in part by geopolitical tensions in Ukraine and the dollar withdrew from its four-year high.

Daily: Brent crude slumps amid strong OPEC oil production

Brent crude slipped on signs of strong OPEC oil production, while U.S. crude also declined on Thursday, going below $98 a barrel, reaching the weakest level since March amid news of an eventual closure for indefinite period at a Kansas oil refinery. Brent crude for September delivery closed down 49 cents at $106.02 a barrel, having declining more than 6 percent in July, on track to hit its biggest monthly fall since April 2013. U.S. crude futures for September delivery slipped $2.10 to settle at $98.17 a barrel, on course for a monthly drop of nearly 7 percent, its largest since May 2012.

Daily: European power prices fell on stronger wind power supply

Brent crude slipped more than $1 a barrel on Tuesday, posting its seventh consecutive decline, hitting a one-month low below $109 since Libyan oil exports from two ports were likely to resume and fears eased of supply disruption in Iraq. Brent has slumped more than 5 percent since last month, when the Iraq violence pushed up prices to a nine-month high of $115.71. Brent crude for August delivery dropped by $1.30 to settle at $108.94 a barrel, after hitting a session low of $108.69, while the U.S. benchmark crude fell 13 cents to touch $103.40, hitting an eighth consecutive day of declines.
