EWEA: European offshore wind capacity rise by 523.2 MW in first half 2012

According to the European Wind Energy Association, in the first half of 2012 wind offshore capacity reached a total of 523.2MW, in comparison with 348.1 MW installed in first half of 2011. The power was connected on eight wind farms, six in UK waters, one in Denmark and one in Germany.

Iran will export gas to European country despite the new EU sanctions

Iranian Oil Minister, Rostam Qassemi announced that it preparing to export gas to European countries via Turkey. According to FNA sources, the deal with the European state involves the export of 20 to 25 million cubic meters of gas supplies. Previous reports said that Iran is about to conclude three new deals for exporting gas supplies to two Persian Gulf littoral states and a European country.

France: Nuclear waste to double by 2030

According to the country’s nuclear waste agency Andra, the stockpiles of nuclear waste in France are expected to double over the 18 years. Most of the waste will have low toxicity and a short life, while some of it will remain radioactive for more than two million years.

Turkish private companies could import Russian gas from January 2013

Turkish private companies will be authorized to import up to 6 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually from January 1, 2013, with the condition that the companies will have to sign agreements with Russian energy company Gazprom, according to the Energy Market Regulatory Authority(EPDK).

China could surpass Europe as the world's top renewable energy growth market

China could surpass Europe as the world leader in renewable energy growth market in 2012 green as Europe’s economic recession have moved into the background the renewable energy market, according to a recent report released by the US International Energy Agency (IEA). China’s renewable energy market will grow by over 20 GW this year, surpassing European OECD countries, while the European renewable development will ease to below 20 GW.
