PV installations worldwide to reach 41 GW in 2014

Photovoltaic installations worldwide are expected to rise at their fastest pace in the last three years next year, reaching more than 40 GW and generating installation incomes of about 86 billion dollars. PV installations in 2014 are likely to rise by 17-18 percent, increasing from 15 % of last year and 13 percent in 2013. The highest rate of growth was last registered in 2011 with a 35 percent increase.

IKEA start selling solar panels in UK

IKEA will start selling residential solar panels in UK in the coming months in a move which aims to bring renewable energy to the mainstream market worldwide. The company’s solar panels are made by China’s Hanergy. UK does not have the largest of solar markets if compared with other European countries, but thanks to subsidies offered by the government it has grown progressively, with installations increasing by 25% year on year.

UK ranks sixth in terms of new solar PV installed globally

During the first semester of 2013 the UK registered a new record in terms of new solar PV capacity installed globally. UK added 802 MW of new solar PV installations, representing 5.5% of 14.9% installed globally. It is the strongest first-half year ever for the UK PV industry. The UK was sixth only after China, Japan, Germany, Italy and the U.S..

Germany hits a new solar record
