Oil prices jumped on Tuesday, supported by strong demand from China. Nevertheless, many markets are well supplied and oil for prompt delivery is trading at heavy discounts to forward futures, consequently crude oil prices remain under pressure and trading volumes are quite low. Brent crude edged up by almost 0.9% to close at $48.84 a barrel, while WTI price rose by 0.83% to end at $46.40 a barrel.

Daily (12.06.2017): EU carbon prices posted a 2.3% week-on-week loss

Oil prices slightly increased on Friday, after steep declines previously during the week, mainly due to increased buying activity among traders, who have taken long positions after closing their prior positions earlier last week. Brent crude for August delivery added 0.61% to settle at $48.15 a barrel on the London ICE Futures Exchange, while the West Texas Intermediate for July delivery increased 0.19 U.S. dollar to settle at $45.83 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Daily (17.02.2017): European spot power contracts surge to their highest levels since November 2008

Crude oil prices ended the Monday’s trade higher as Saudi Arabia's commitments to cutting production offset a report forecasting U.S. output would again increase this year. Benchmark Brent crude oil for March delivery rose by 41 cents a barrel, or 0.7 percent, to end at $55.86 and U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude added 27 cents, or 0.5 percent, to settle at $52.64 a barrel.
