The third-biggest U.S. energy company, ConocoPhillips, along with the Lane Energy Poland, plan to drill a exploratory well for shale gas in the northern Poland, aside from the other two drilled this year by the Polish energy company.

World’s largest shale gas deposits estimated to be in Ukraine.
The Minister of Environment and Natural Resources of Ukraine, Mykola Zlochevsky, along with the Chairman of NAK "Nadra of Ukraine", Eduard Stavytskyi, announced at the "World Shale Gas - 2010" exhibition and conference that Ukraine currently possesses the world’s biggest shale gas deposits.

Europe can’t afford all pipelines planned.
After the gas crisis that occurred in 2009 because of Russian and Ukraine disputes, cutting a fifth of Europe’s gas supply induced the EU to consider alternative gas supply sources.

Nabucco will make final investment decision by the end of 2011.
According to the spokesman of Nabucco, a supply contract with Azerbaijan should be finalized in 2011 as talks have intensified.
