Successful shale test for San Leon in Poland

European oil and gas company San Leon Energy Plc, has reached a crucial milestone on the way to commencing commercial production of shale gas for the first time in Europe, reporting a sustained gas production rate of 45,000–60,000 standard cubic feet per day. Natural gas flowed from its Lewino well in a shale formation in the Baltic Basin in northern Poland.

Eni to abandon shale gas projects in Poland

Italian energy firm Eni intends to abandon its shale gas projects in Poland due to unclear regulation and difficult geology, the same concerns that have already pushed other foreign firms as Marathon Oil, Talisman Energy and Exxon Mobil, to quit Polish shale. If Eni will leave as well, Chevron and ConocoPhillips would be the last two companies committed to a shale gas industry in Poland.
