Poland wants to reduce its dependence on highly polluting coal and expensive Russian gas imports, so it is working hard on its program for introducing nuclear power in its energy mix. At present it is highly dependent on coal, which provides around 90% of the country’s energy.

Poland: Shale gas taxation could be slightly lower
The Polish government’s proposed tax on shale-gas exploration could be lower than the 40% of the gross profit on extraction of gas and oil, according to the declarations of Environment Minister Marcin Korolec made on Friday.
