U.S. crude futures rose for a second day in line on Thursday, as civil protests keep up and could have a negative impact for oil producers and cause supply perturbations. Crude for March delivery ended 1.67 percent up at 86.36 dollars a barrel on the NYMEX market.

Daily Energy Market Overview, Tuesday, January 25, 2011

U.S. crude oil stockpiles increased last week as imports rose and refinery use had little changed after dropping the week before. The latest increase was caused by the continuing downturn in refinery use and the return to normal work of the Alaskan pipeline. Allowances for U.S. refined petroleum products increased last week by almost 12 percent on average.

Huge natural gas reserves discovered in Israel

According to the U.S. company Noble Energy, a recent test drilling confirmed huge natural gas reserves at Israel's Leviathan gas deposit in the Mediterranean Sea, containing 450 billion cubic meters of gas, which are supposed to guarantee the country's energy independence.
