British company Amec Foster Wheeler will provide a 750kW solar energy and battery storage system to the US Air Force Wake Island base, in a contract worth $26.6 million. The deal will include the upkeep and upgrade of the facility’s electrical distribution system, which consists of around eight miles of medium-voltage electrical equipment.

ERBD to grant $135m loan to enhance power distribution in north-western Turkey
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is extending $ 134.75m loan to three Turkish electricity companies, the Trakya Electricity Distribution Company (TREDAŞ), the Trakya Electricity Retail Company (TREPAŞ), and to their parent company, IC İçtaş Elektrik (ICEL), as part of its moves to enhance reforms in the country’s electricity sector.

National Grid to sell 61% of its gas distribution business for £13.8bn
UK’s National Grid has agreed to sell a majority stake in its gas distribution business (NGGD) to a group of investors including Chinese and Qatari sovereign wealth funds in a deal valuing the business at about £13.8bn ($17.4bn), including debt.
