Crude oil prices increased on Tuesday, boosted by European Union leaders' agreement to impose a 90% ban on Russian crude oil imports by the end of 2022. Consequently, Brent crude rose by 1% to $122.84 a barrel.

After strong gains on Monday, oil prices stabilised on Tuesday as fears about constrained supply outweighed worries about a possible recession and China's COVID-19 restrictions. Brent crude edged 14 cents higher at $113.56 a barrel. WTI crude fell by 52 cents to $109.77 a barrel.

Crude oil prices rebounded on Tuesday a pledge of China’s central bank to boost liquidity in financial markets, which helped soothe concerns about the impact of a resurgent Covid-19 that had led to another lockdown. Hence, Brent crude increased by $2.67, or 2.6%, to settle at $104.99 a barrel. U.S. WTI crude soared by $3.16, or 3.2%, at $101.70.
