BP announced its Scrip Dividend Programme

The British Petroleum board communicated on October 25th, 2011 that the interim dividend for the third quarter 2011 will account for US 0.07 dollars per ordinary share and US 0.42 dollars per ADS. This is to be paid on December 19th, 2011 in cash sterling to owners of ordinary shares and in US dollars to owners of ADSs.

EU: new legislation on offshore oil and gas drilling

The European Union issued a new legislation on offshore oil and gas drilling to guard itself against a repeat of BP's Deepwater Horizon oil spill. It marks the first time the EU has proposed a bloc-wide legislation on offshore oil and gas, although it complements an existing directive on environmental liability under which the polluter pays.
