IEA: Coal demand will continue to grow in the next years to come

According to a new report recently released by the International Energy Agency (IEA) coal could become the world's top energy source by 2017 along with oil. The IEA expects an increase in coal demand all over the world except the US, where natural gas is replacing the black mineral as feedstock for the production of electricity.

Daily: European carbon prices near collapse after the European Parliament vote

Crude oil prices slipped for a sixth consecutive session on Wednesday, with Brent crude dropping below $98 per barrel for the first time since July as increased U.S. fuel supplies weighted on overall concern about world oil demand. Meanwhile, Brent crude dropped $2.22 at $97.69, after declining earlier to $97.26, the lowest level since July 2012. U.S. crude settled down $2.04 to $86.68.

Daily: UK spot gas price down as warmer weather cuts demand

Brent crude oil futures for May delivery, which are expiring soon, dropped more than 2 percent on Monday following data showing weaker Chinese economic growth, which reinforced fears about world economy and demand for oil. Meanwhile, Brent May crude dropped $2.72, or 2.64 percent, to settle at $100.39 a barrel, having fluctuated from $100.02 to $103.09. Brent crude for June delivery declined $2.41 to settle at $100.63 a barrel.
