France’s Energy Minister Philippe Martin has announced last week that it is planning to introduce a new green tax, which should encourage industries and families to reduce energy consumption, assuring them that would not result in new tax increases, but he didn’t offered any details about what form it would take or when particulars would become available.

World largest CO2 recovery plant to be built in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia intends to build the world's largest CO2 purification and liquefaction plant that would compress and purify about 1,500 tons per day of raw CO2. According to Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) the plant will be based in the Jubail Industrial City while an estimated 500,000 tons of CO2 emissions will be saved each year.

Norway plans to increase oil taxes

Norway has recently announced that it plans to increase taxes on oil companies by about 3 billion kroner (500 million dollars) while it plans also lowering taxes for traditional industries and close a tax loophole for multinational firms that shifted profits to lower-tax countries.

U.S. solar PV hit a new installation record in 2012

The U.S. installed 16 million of solar panels in 2012, adding 3.3 GW and representing a 76% annual growth, a tenth of the world market, according to the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA). The panels installed last year will generate about the same amount of electricity over a year as a medium-sized coal plant, enough to power 400,000 U.S. homes.

U.S: Solar PV industry installs 684 MW in the third quarter of 2012

According to the Solar Energy Industries Association, about 684 MW of solar PV capacity was installed in the third quarter of 2012, up 44% in comparison to the same period of 2011. In the first 10 months of 2012 solar alone increased by 133%, with total U.S. solar PV power capacity amounting now over 5900 MW, with 1.2 gigawatts of solar photovoltaics installed, bringing 2012 installations to 3.2 gigawatts, enough to supply with power about 1 million households.
