Daily: European prompt power prices edge up on heatwave expectations

Crude oil declined by about 3 percent on Wednesday on forecasts that stronger exports from Iran will add to global oversupply and on increasing stockpiles at the delivery hub at Cushing, Oklahoma. Brent crude for August delivery dropped $1.46, or 2.5 percent, to close at $57.05 a barrel. The August contract expires on Thursday. WTI crude for August delivery shed $1.63, or 3 percent, to settle at $51.41.

Daily: European power prices jump on tight nuclear power, heatwave

Crude oil prices declined on Friday on increasing U.S. rig count which intensified worries of global supply glut and after Chinese regulators launched an investigation into suspected stock market manipulation. Front-month U.S. crude settled at $56.56, down 37 cents, falling below a trading range of $57 to $62 seen since early May. Brent crude for August delivery decreased by $1.75 to close at $60.32 a barrel, prolonging a downward trend since early May during which prices have slipped around 13 percent. Front-month U.S. crude stood at $55.52, down $1.41, plunging below a trading range of $57 to $62 recorded since early May.

Daily: European coal prices increase on new wave of sanctions against Russia

Crude oil prices closed down after a nervous trading session on Tuesday as oil supplies remained untouched by continuing violence in Iraq, Ukraine and Gaza. Brent crude for September delivery dropped 35 cents to hit $107.33 a barrel, after having fluctuated between $107.20 and $108.40. U.S. oil for August delivery declined 17 cents to settle at $104.42 a barrel, down from a session high of $105.25.
