UK oil and gas industry received record levels of investments

Trade body Oil & Gas UK, has recently released a new report according to which investments the North Sea are the highest in the last 30 years and continues to rise. It has revealed that investments in the UK Continental Shelf projects reached little more than £11 billion last year, and this figure is likely to rise by a further £2 billion this year.

Go ahead for the North Blyth biomass power plant

The RES has received the permission from the Government to build a 100 MW biomass power plant in Northumberland. It is RES's first biomass plant, with the company having developed a number of onshore and offshore wind projects and solar energy schemes.

World Bank to limit financing coal- fired power plants in the future

The World Bank has announced it will help countries to seek alternatives to coal power and will stop funding for new coal power generation projects. Jim Yong Kim, the President of the World Bank has always stressed the need to mitigate the impacts of climate change, making it a main concern for the Bank itself and for its five main organizations which are offering loans and grants to poor and emergent countries worldwide.

EWEA: Offshore wind turbines increased about 2-fold in 2013

The industry body European Wind Energy Association (EWEA) said in the first half of 2013 the number of new offshore wind turbines installed increased about 2-fold compared with a year ago, however financing for new projects has slowed.
