China Wind Power and CNNC Rich Energy to add 700 MW of wind and solar projects by 2015

China Wind Power Group Ltd and CNNC Rich Energy have signed a strategic cooperation to invest in wind and solar energy projects with a target of some 700 MW by 2015. The two companies will jointly finance and develop 100 MW of renewable energy projects in 2013, a mix of solar and wind, and are targeting 200 MW of solar and 500 MW of wind projects in the next two years.

Romania intends to cut support to renewable energy

Romanian energy market regulator ANRE, has announced on Friday, that Romanian government will cut its support for renewable energy, in particular for wind, solar and small hydro renewable energy projects. Romania's support scheme gives renewable power producers green certificates for each megawatt produced. Providers must get a rising percentage of the power they sell from renewable energy and buy certificates to meet these goals.

Solar 21 acquires another Italian solar park

Solar 21 Renewable Energy Ireland Ltd, a Dublin-based investment firm has acquired another Italian solar park, bringing to seven the number of solar parks that the Irish company holds in Italy, after it has acquired another six solar projects which were owned by AEG Power Solutions, in November last year.

EU bank to provide 500 million loan to France

The European Investment Bank has decided to grant a loan of about 500 million euro aiming to help finance upgrades to seven of France's high-voltage and very-high-voltage power grid projects through 2016, the funds will help guarantee the quality and security of France's electricity supply, and would allow the country to add new-generation and renewable sources to its grid counting also a major investment in renewable energy sources.

China: The restructuration of PV solar subsidies system may hurt manufacturers

China, set to become the world’s biggest solar market, is facing a restructuration of its subsidies system, envisaging supporting smaller projects rather than large-scale ones in an effort to encourage new facility developments in areas with chronic power shortage issues, according to an industry official.
