The unconventional gas suppliers from Europe need subsidies from government to become attractive on the market.

The Oxford Institute for Energy Studies in collaboration with the SBC Energy Institute has published a study on unconventional gas in Europe. The study "Can unconventional gas be a game changer in European gas markets?” concludes that unconventional gas development will not be a game changer for European gas markets overall. However, it could have a significant impact in individual countries, although probably not in this decade.
