Brent crude oil registered a slight increase, buoyed by supply concerns in Middle East, as the Syrian civil war has impeded development of Iraq's oil and gas reserves and a key pipeline to the Mediterranean has exploded dozens of times. Brent oil increased 44 cents to settle at $107.85 per barrel.

Poland's government has announced on Tuesday its intention to go ahead with the plans to build two nuclear power plants. Currently, the country produces 90 percent of its electricity from coal but wants to diversify its fuel sources, making its energy sector more efficient. Poland has opted for nuclear, in a move which aims also to help meet the environmental requirements of the European Union.

Algeria is aiming to increase its oil and natural gas production by 50% and 100 percent respectively within 10 years helped by major exploration success last year and by shale gas which would have an important role to achieve the ambitious plan. The minister projected Algeria's recoverable reserves at between 25 and 30 trillion cubic feet.

Brent futures boosted to $107 a barrel on Tuesday as the sharpest fall in three weeks encouraged new buying, with concerns of turmoil in emerging economies and a downturn in China keeping the gains in check. Brent crude hit a high of $107.10 a barrel and rose 29 cents at $106.98 by 03:29 GMT. Meanwhile, U.S. oil rose 12 cents to $95.84, after recording the highest level Jan. 13.
