Daily: UK prompt gas prices slip on oversupplied market

U.S. crude futures increased by nearly $2 a barrel on Wednesday, recovering from four-month lows, on surprisingly large declines in U.S. fuel supplies to narrow its spread with European Brent crude by more than $1. Meanwhile, Brent traded higher, supported by concerns about prolonged supply outages in Libya as the peak northern hemisphere winter heating season emerges.

Daily: UK gas prices increase on field outages

Crude oil prices on both sides of the Atlantic increased on Thursday on increasing violence in Egypt which could hit the Suez Canal or spread across the Middle East. Front-month September Brent, which expired on Thursday, settled 91 cents higher at $111.11 a barrel, after earlier increasing over a dollar to $111.53, its highest level since April 2. The more actively traded October contract rose 78 cents to $109.60. Meanwhile, U.S. oil rose 48 cents to settle at $107.33.

Daily: European power prices trade higher on thermal plant outages

Brent crude traded under $109 per barrel on Tuesday following overnight gains which were backed by supply concerns in OPEC nation Libya, while investors were pending for U.S. economic data due later this week. Brent crude was steady at $108.96 a barrel, at 01:29 GMT unchanged from its close in the previous session, while U.S. crude oil dropped 13 cents at $105.98 a barrel.
