IEA: China to register the biggest increase in terms of renewable energy generation by 2035

According to a new report from the International Energy Agency, China is expected to see the largest absolute increase in output from clean energy, building more renewable power plants through 2035 than the U.S., EU and Japan combined.

Daily: U.S. crude futures drop on ample inventories, Brent up on Libya unrest

U.S. crude oil futures dropped on Wednesday dragged down by higher-than-expected increase in stockpiles which weighted down prices, while unrest in Libya supported Brent. Brent crude boosted 43 cents to settle at $111.31 a barrel, after trading as low as $110.51 during the session. Meanwhile, U.S. oil settled down by $1.38 at $92.30, its weakest close since May 31, after declining to $91.77 earlier in the session.

Iran oil insurance sanctions may soon be eased

Now that a nuclear deal has been reached following the breakthrough agreement in Geneva, the west is likely to start easing crippling sanctions on Iran, as it has about $100 billion in investments frozen around the world, and its government runs a deficit of $35 billion a year.

UK: RWE has stopped development on the Atlantic Array offshore wind project

RWE, one of the big six energy companies in the UK, has announced the cancellation of one of the world’s largest offshore wind farms due to political rows and policy uncertainty. The wind farm in the Bristol Channel Zone would have provided clean energy for almost 1 million hoseholds and provided thousands of jobs in the construction phase.

Poland to adopt a new shale gas regulation by the end of the year

Poland’s environment ministry is ready to draft new regulation for the exploration and extraction of shale gas and send it to the government for approval before the end of the year, declared Poland's Minister of the Environment Maciej Grabowski.
