Romania awards contract for Cernavoda extension

Candu Energy, a member of Canada's SNC-Lavalin Group, has won a USD10.8 million contract from Societatea Nationala Nuclearelectrica (SNN) for engineering analyses and assessments on unit 1 of the Cernavoda nuclear power plant in Romania. The work aims to extend the operation of the unit by an additional 35,000 hours.

Rostov unit 1 cleared to operate until 2031

Russian regulator Rostechnadzor has issued an operating licence extension for unit 1 of the Rostov nuclear power plant in southwest Russian to 2031. As of 9 January, the VVER-1000 unit had generated 148.174 terawatt hours of electricity since it started operations in 2001.

Last of four Kola units gets extended operation licence

Russian regulator Rostechnadzor has issued a 15-year operating licence extension for unit 2 of the Kola nuclear power plant to 2034. Kola NPP is located 200 km south of Murmansk, on the shore of Lake Imandra. It produces about 60% of the electricity of the Murmansk region.

Daily (21.11.2019): The 3.3% hike in WTI crude due to a lower-than-predicted growth in U.S crude inventories lent support to the entire energy complex

Oil prices increased on Wednesday following a report indicating that U.S crude inventories rose lower than expected. Moreover, Russia promised to continue its cooperation with OPEC to maintain a balanced oil market. Brent crude jumped by 2.5% to $62.40 a barrel. WTI crude climbed by 3.3% to $57.01 a barrel.
