Germany: 4,600 of 6,500 MW offshore grid connection capacity finalized – offshore surcharge stable

The offshore transmission system operators 50Hertz and TenneT have finalized offshore grid connections with a capacity of more than 4,600 MW in the North Sea and the Baltic Sea. That brings the offshore grid development closer to the EEG expansion objective of 6,500 MW for offshore wind by 2020.

RWE commissions two new onshore wind power plants in Poland

RWE Polska, part of German energy group RWE, has commissioned two wind farms in Poland with a combined capacity of 45 MW, boosting the company's total capacity in the country to around 240 MW, which can supply annually an equivalent of 250,000 homes with green electricity.

Daily: European spot power prices up on colder weather, weak wind supply

Crude oil prices declined on Monday, falling 5 % as traders took profits after last week’s hike to an 11-week high and report that OPEC kept on to increase production despite a continuous oversupply. Both Brent and U.S. crude futures recorded the largest percentage losses since the start of September with the North Sea crude slipping $2.79 at $49.86 and West Texas Intermediate declining $2.53 at $47.10. OPEC slashed its estimate of 2016 world oil demand growth by 40,000 bpd to 1.25 million bpd amid sluggish growth in China.
