Daily (08.02.2023): European spot electricity prices fell on Tuesday amid strong wind generation.

Oil prices rose for the second consecutive day on Tuesday, partly due to the closure of a Turkish export terminal following the earthquakes that struck Turkey and Syria on Monday. However, the main driver of the increase was expectations of a recovery in Chinese demand. As a result, Brent crude increased by 3% to $83.69 a barrel and WTI oil rose by 4% to $77.14 a barrel.

Portugal to speed up first offshore wind auction amid strong investor interest

Spain off target for wind additions by 2030

New wind additions in 2022 failed to keep pace with the 2.2 GW/yr required to ensure that Spain remains on track to meet its 2030 legislated target of just above 50GW, according to AEE. The lobby group stressed that this delay was partly because "the speed of administrative processing has not been sufficient". Installed wind capacity reached 29.73GW in 2022, up by 1.13GW from 28.60GW in 2021, according to provisional power grid operator REE data.

Sweden's OX2 plans 1.4-GW offshore wind farm in Finnish waters

Swedish renewables developer OX2 AB  on Friday said it has started developing a project that calls for the installation of a 1.4-GW offshore wind farm in the Gulf of Bothnia, in the Finnish economic zone.
