Turkish private companies could import Russian gas from January 2013

Turkish private companies will be authorized to import up to 6 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually from January 1, 2013, with the condition that the companies will have to sign agreements with Russian energy company Gazprom, according to the Energy Market Regulatory Authority(EPDK).

Statoil and Total: significant gas discovery in the North Sea

The Norwegian oil and gas company Statoil and the French giant Total have made a significant gas discovery in the Southern part of the Norwegian North Sea, in the King Lear prospect. Until now 7 new oil and gas discoveries were made on the Norwegian Shelf, from which 4 were made in the North Sea, 2 in Norwegian Sea and one in Barents Sea.

A new LNG terminal could be built in Gothenburg, in Sweden by 2015.It will be built at the major port in the Nordic region, and will be able to store large quantities of resources, helping the country to pass from heavy fuel oil to gas.

China opens its first natural gas spot market to deal with peak electricity demand

In order to deal with peak electricity demand in the summer, China launched its first spot market for natural gas on the Shanghai Petroleum Exchange on July 2nd, move which will gradually improve the natural gas mechanism in long term through a fair and reasonable competition.
