Germany raises record EUR 13bn through carbon pricing

Germany raised a record EUR 13.2bn last year through emissions sales on both Europe’s carbon market and the country’s domestic scheme for heating and transport, the Federal Environment Agency (UBA) said on Tuesday.

Crude oil prices increased modestly on Tuesday, spurred by a softer dollar and a U.S. plan to restock petroleum reserves. However, gains were capped by uncertainty over the impact of rising COVID-19 cases China. Brent crude added 0.2%, to settle at $79.99 per barrel. Meanwhile, U.S. WTI crude rose by 1.4% to $76.23 per barrel.

German pipeline firms say they will 'make hydrogen happen' in 2025

Daily (15.12.2022): European carbon prices extended losses on Wednesday amid expiring contracts

Crude oil prices rebounded on Wednesday following forecasts from OPEC and the International Energy Agency (IEA) of a rebound in demand over the next year, and as US interest rate hikes are expected to ease further alongside slowing inflation. Brent crude increased by $2.02, or 2.4%, to $82.70 per barrel, while U.S. WTI crude rose by $1.94 to $77.28 a barrel.
