Enel Green Power profits up by over 20% in the first semester

Italy's biggest renewable energy company Enel Green Power (EGP), controlled by Italian utility Enel, has announced yesterday that in the first six month of 2013 its earnings increased by 21.7% to 269 million euros in comparison to 221 million euros in the same period of 2012.

Germany’s CO2 emissions set to increase for a second year

Germany is likely to increase its carbon emissions by 1.5% in comparison to 2012 levels due to a major consumption of coal. Coal is the most polluting fossil fuel and is responsible for contributing to global warming. Following the opening of two new coal power stations in 2012, six more are expected to open this year, with a total capacity of 5800MW.
