Poland to continue its dependence on coal
Historically, Poland has been an important producer and exporter of coal. Poland became the principal coal producer in Europe in the 1970s. Poland consumes more than 75 million tons of coal per year, which makes it the 10th largest coal consumer in the world and the 2nd largest in the EU, after Germany.

Daily: Brent crude tumbles on Iran negotiations, Libya exports
Brent crude futures dropped more than $1 a barrel on Tuesday as negotiations this week between world powers and Iran could lessen sanctions against the oil-rich country. The resumption of oil deliveries from Libya also weighed on Brent prices. Meanwhile, U.S. oil futures recovered from a four-month low to end the session higher, narrowing the spread between the two benchmarks by over $1 a barrel in a day of volatile trading.

Protests in Libya arrested gas exports to Italy
Protestors have shut Libya's gas export pipeline to Italy, its only purchaser, demanding more rights for the Amazigh. The protesters want their language guaranteed under Libya's planned new constitution and a bigger say in a committee to be elected to draft the constitution.

South Stream pipeline project - one of the most ambitious infrastructure projects

At present, an important project combines the interests of both Russia and Europe- the South Stream project. Officially, the South Stream is a method for Russia to improve the reliability of its gas supplies to Europe, its largest export market. It will reach this objective by redirecting Russian gas supplies to Europe.
