Crude oil prices rebounded from multi-months lows touched last week as upbeat economic data from China and the United States fed hopes for a stronger demand despite persisting fears of a recession. Thus, Brent crude rose by 1.8%, to settle at $96.65 a barrel, WTI crude increased by 2% to $90.76.

The ECB rate hike and larger gasoline stocks in the United States both contributed to Thursday's decline in oil prices. On the other hand, the return of Libyan oil supplies and the restart of Russian gas exports to Europe relieved supply constraints. Thus, Brent crude ended 2.9% lower at $103.86 a barrel. WTI crude fell by 3.5% to settle at $96.35 a barrel.

The first safety-related concrete has been poured for the nuclear island of unit 1 of the El Dabaa nuclear power plant in Egypt. It marks the official start of construction of the first of four Russian-supplied VVER-1200 reactors at the site on the country's Mediterranean coast.

Oil prices fell on Thursday as investors are concentrated on the possibility of a significant rate hike in the United States later this month, which may reduce inflation but also dampen oil demand. Thus, Brent and WTI crude ended both 0.5% lower at $99.10 and $95.78 a barrel respectively.
