Oil prices declined on Wednesday as fears about a shortage of crude oil supply were counterbalanced by an increase in gasoline and distillate stocks in the United States and concerns over slower global economic growth. Thus, Brent crude fell by 1.5% to settle at $116.26 a barrel. WTI crude decreased by 1.8% to $109.78 per barrel.

Oil prices rose for the third day in a row on Tuesday as major exporters - Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates - appeared unlikely to be able to significantly raise supply. On the other hand, Western countries agreed to investigate into potential measures to regulate the price of the Russian crude. Brent crude therefore increased by 2.5% to close at $117.98 a barrel.

Oil prices fell on Thursday after more remarks from Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell stoked concerns that interest rate hikes might lead to a slower pace of the economic growth. Brent crude decreased by 1.5% to $110.05 a barrel.

Crude oil prices increased to their highest levels in over a week in choppy trade on Thursday as traders assessed the prospect of more rate hikes against persistently tight supplies. New sanctions by United States on Iran lent further support. Hence, Brent crude rose by 1.1% to $119.81 a barrel. US WTI crude increased by 2%, to end at $117.58 a barrel.
