Statoil makes another oil and gas discovery in the North Sea

A new gas and oil discovery has been made by Norwegian oil major Statoil in the northern part of the North Sea, about 10 kilometers of the Valemon gas and condensate field presently under development, as stated by the company on Friday. It is the second substantial finding off Norway in two days.

Eni has made an important oil and gas discovery in Congo

Italian oil and gas company Eni has made an important oil and gas discovery in the Marine XII block located about 17 km offshore Congo, at the Nene Marine 3 well. According to the company, the field where the well is sited might contain about 1.2 billion barrels of oil and 30 billion cubic metres of gas in place.

China: huge shale gas well was discovered

China has announced last week that its top refiner Sinopec Corp has discovered a shale gas well in the Guizhou Province in the southwestern part of the country. Located at a depth of 4,417 metres, the well is thought to be the deepest discovery and is likely to have a maximum daily output of 105,000 cubic meters, while the nation’s Ministry of Land and Resources said the gas well is expected to have an average daily output of 43,000 cubic metres.

New oil and gas discovery for Eni in the Norwegian Barents Sea

The Italian company has announced in a press release that it has made a new oil and gas discovery in the Norwegian Barents Sea. The discovery is about 240 km from Hammerfest, and the company said that the well has confirmed good quality oil and gas, with volumes of recoverable oil estimated at between 20 and 50 million barrels. The discovery is part of Eni’s joint venture exploration activity to develop the Johan Castberg field.
