Solar PV demand up 2 GW in 2013

According to a new report offered by NPD Solarbuzz, the global solar photovoltaic (PV) demand is estimated to increase by 2 GW, reaching 31 GW in 2013. A large amount of the 2 GW will come as a result of strong demand from the Asian markets, where almost 50% of increase will be registered, in countries as China, India and Japan, leading to a capacity addition of around 11 GW in 2013

Daily: Brent crude drops on bearish data from China

Brent crude oil futures dropped on Monday, dragged down by pessimistic data from China, the second oil consumer in the world, however settling well above the session low. Brent crude for April delivery dropped 63 cents, or 0.57 percent, to settle at $110.22 a barrel, after having hit $110.72 and fallen to as low as $109.53.

China surpassed the United States as the world’s top oil importer

China has surpassed the United States as the world’s biggest net importer of oil after, the U.S. posted its lowest import records since 1992 on the back of flourishing domestic oil production. According to provisional figures from the US Energy Information Administration US net oil imports dropped to 5.98m barrels a day in December, the lowest since February 1992, while China’s own figures rose to 6.12 million bpd.
