Pakistan hydro project to receive $850m from the World Bank

The Tarbela 4th Extension hydropower project in Pakistan will receive 850 million dollars from the World Bank. By completing the project, the generation capacity of Tarbela Power Station will achieve 4,888 MW. It is expected to be completed in four years and will generate 1,410 MW of electricity.

Germany confirms 7.5 GW of new solar installed in 2011

The earlier released reports by the German Federal Network Agency indicated that 3 GW of new solar power were installed in Germany in December alone, defining a monthly record in the Federal country. German Federal Network Agency confirmed earlier appraisal that in 2011, a 7.5GW capacity of solar was installed in Germany. This surpassed even the US total new installed capacity of 1,855 MW in 2011.
