Heliatek sets organic solar cells record
A Dresden based solar cell manufacturer, Heliatek G.m.b.H., has set a new world record of 9.8 percent efficiency for organic solar cells (made with conductive organic polymers and molecules) which are considered to be more competitive in term of costs and more flexible than inorganic photovoltaic cells.

SunShot Initiative: Rooftop Solar Challenge
Recently, the U.S. Department of Energy announced the USD 12 million in funding for the awardees of the Rooftop Solar Challenge as part of SunShot Initiative which is a collaborative national effort to make solar power more accessible and affordable for power consumers, at the same time saving money and time for local governments which are facing tight budgets.

Largest Indian PV plant to get 48 million dollars loan
The largest Indian solar PV power plant, with a total capacity of 40 MW, received a long-term loan from the Asian Development Bank worth 48 million dollars. The Dahanu solar power plant will be built in the western state of Rajasthan, and it is planned to be completed by the second quarter of 2012.
