Crude oil futures edged higher for the third day in a row on Thursday, as the likelihood of deeper OPEC+ supply reductions offset forecasts for a declining demand due to the coronavirus spread. Brent crude for April delivery rose by 55 cents, or 1%, to settle at $56.34 a barrel on ICE London. U.S. WTI crude firmed by 25 cents, or 0.5%, to end at $51.42 a barrel on NYMEX.

Crude oil futures soared on Wednesday as signs that the spread of China’s coronavirus may be easing increased investors’ confidence. Brent crude for April delivery rose by $1.78, or 3.3%, to settle at $55.79 per barrel. U.S. WTI crude gained $1.23, or 2.5%, to close at $51.17.

The anxiety over the global economic impact of a deadly virus sent oil prices more than two percent lower on Monday. Brent crude for March delivery slipped $1.37, or 2.3%, to settle at $59.32 a barrel, the lowest level since Oct. 21. U.S. WTI crude ended at $53.14 a barrel, down $1.05, or 1.9%, its lowest level since Oct. 2.

Crude oil prices fell more than 2% on Wednesday following a supply glut forecast released by IEA. Moreover, the spread of China’s coronavirus increased concerns about demand. Brent crude for March delivery dipped $1.38, or 2.1%, to settle at $63.21 a barrel on ICE London. WTI for February shed $1.64, or 2.8%, to end at $56.74 on NYMEX.

Belarusian Oil Company (BOC) has bought a batch of Norwegian oil from Johan Sverdrup with delivery to the Lithuanian port of Klaipeda, reports the Reuters agency.
