China secures coal, gas and power supplies ahead of another cold wave

China has taken measures to secure natural gas, electricity and coal supplies ahead of another expected cold snap in coming days, the country's top policy planner, the National Development and Reform Commission, said in a Dec. 28 press conference, according to a transcript on its website.

Daily (25.09.2020): German power spot hiked by over 8% on Thursday due to weaker wind generation

Crude oil futures finished slightly higher on Thursday, buoyed by tighter U.S. crude supplies, while the alarming comeback of the pandemic in Europe restrained gains. Hence, Brent crude edged 0.4% higher, to settle at $41.94 a barrel. Meanwhile, U.S. WTI crude rose by 1%, to end at $40.31 a barrel.

Daily (23.09.2020): European carbon prices surged by over 5% on Tuesday amid compliance buying and speculative short-covering

Crude oil prices recovered slightly from the steepest one-day loss in almost two weeks following the equities’ advance and amid expectations for a second decrease on U.S. crude supplies. However, surging COVID-19 cases put a lid on gains. Hence, Brent crude for November delivery rose by 28 cents, or 0.7%, to end the session at $41.72 a barrel. Meanwhile, U.S. WTI crude increased by 1% to settle at $39.70 a barrel.
