Statoil unveils strong increase in exploration drilling in 2017

Statoil, the Norwegian multinational oil and gas company, announced that it plans to drill around 30 exploration wells in 2017, an increase of around 30 percent compared to last year. More than half of the wells will be drilled on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS).

Statoil acquires Tullow Oil stakes off Norway

Norway's Statoil ASA declared on Tuesday it had settled with the U.K.'s Tullow Oil PLC to buy stakes in four oil drilling licenses off Norway, counting a 20% stake in the Wisting finding in the Barents Sea, at an unrevealed price.

Statoil to reduce costs and raise output at Johan Sverdrup oil field

Norway’s Statoil ASA has announced on Monday that it had dropped billions of dollars planned for the start-up of its giant Johan Sverdrup oil field by about 20%. In addition, the company has also raised the estimated initial output by 16% after intensifying drilling and streamlining operations.
