Crude oil prices continued to gain ground on Friday, driven by the rising Chinese demand and the prospect of easing inflationary pressures. As a result, Brent crude oil rose by $1.25, or 1.4 percent, to $85.28 a barrel. U.S. WTI crude oil settled at $79.86 a barrel, gaining $1.4, or almost 2%%, on a day-over-day basis.

Daily (15.12.2022): European carbon prices extended losses on Wednesday amid expiring contracts

Crude oil prices rebounded on Wednesday following forecasts from OPEC and the International Energy Agency (IEA) of a rebound in demand over the next year, and as US interest rate hikes are expected to ease further alongside slowing inflation. Brent crude increased by $2.02, or 2.4%, to $82.70 per barrel, while U.S. WTI crude rose by $1.94 to $77.28 a barrel.

Daily (05.12.2022): NBP spot settled down on Friday amid forecasts for strong LNG arrivals

A bearish trend was seen in crude oil prices on Friday ahead of a meeting of the OPEC+ on Sunday and an EU ban on Russian crude on Monday. Thus, Brent crude decreased by 1.5% to settle at $85.57 a barrel. WTI crude ended around 5% lower at $79.98 a barrel.

Moreover, an increase in coronavirus cases in China dashed hopes for a speedy reopening of the world's largest crude importer. As a result, Brent crude dropped by 3%, to end at $93.14 per barrel, while WTI fell by 3.5% to $85.87 a barrel.
