Didcot and Fawley power stations to be closed in 2013

RWE npower has announced that the two power stations in Oxfordshire and Hampshire which are 42 years old will be closed soon, as the EU rules required reducing greenhouse gasses emissions. The closures will occur at the end of March 2013, when the power stations will have exhausted their permitted hours of operation before they have to shut down, the energy company said.

Daily: British spot gas prices up on weak Norwegian exports

Brent crude futures eased for the first time in four sessions on Tuesday on investors profit-taking, but stayed above $114 a barrel, with the losses being limited by hopes that U.S. Federal Reserve would announce further measures to boost the economy this week.

RWE Dea starts the development drilling at Clipper South in UK

RWE Dea's subsidiary in the United Kingdom has announced the delivery of its first gas from its Clipper South field in the UK North Sea. The field is operated by RWE Dea (50% interest) and Fairfield Energy is also a partner in the field (25% interest).

Statoil and Total: significant gas discovery in the North Sea

The Norwegian oil and gas company Statoil and the French giant Total have made a significant gas discovery in the Southern part of the Norwegian North Sea, in the King Lear prospect. Until now 7 new oil and gas discoveries were made on the Norwegian Shelf, from which 4 were made in the North Sea, 2 in Norwegian Sea and one in Barents Sea.

Daily: Nordic power declines on rainy weather

Brent crude increased to $99 a barrel on Monday after the failure of the second round of talks with Norwegian offshore oil and gas sector workers, intensifying worries of a total output shutdown, while expectations that China would ease monetary policy and improve fuel demand offset oil prices.
