Daily: Oil prices start to surge on a record decline in U.S. oil drilling

Crude oil prices rebounded from six-year lows on Friday, rallying more than 8 percent, supported by a record weekly decline in U.S. oil drilling. The hike may raise speculation that a seven-month price plunge is over. Brent crude increased by 3.86 to settle at $52.99 a barrel, after shooting up to as high as $53.08, the highest level in more than three weeks. U.S. oil futures rose by $3.71 to close at $48.24, rebounding by nearly $3 in a final hour.

Daily: European coal futures plunge at near nine-year low

Crude oil prices decreased on Wednesday, with WTI crude prices dipping at near six-year lows, after the government announced record-high stockpiles in the United States that intensified worries about the global oil glut that put pressure on the market since the last summer. Benchmark Brent crude declined $1.13, or 2.3 percent, to close at $48.47, after a session low at $48.29. U.S. crude's front-month contract dropped $1.78, or almost 4 percent, to close at $44.45 a barrel.

Daily: European power prices soar on strong demand due to colder weather

Crude oil prices increased by 5 percent on Monday, recovering from five-year lows, posting the largest daily gain since 2012, spurred by fears that the robust U.S. shale output criticized for the global oil oversupply is expected to shrink. Benchmark Brent crude oil rose by $2.39 to settle at $72.54 a barrel, after recording a session peak at $72.73. U.S. crude boosted $2.85 to close at $69 a barrel, after firstly plummeting to a five-year bottom at $63.72.
