Crude oil prices posted a slight decline on Wednesday in a volatile trade, dragged down by a record high in U.S. crude and gasoline stockpiles which fed concerns about a supply glut. However, the bearish inventories data were offset by evidence that OPEC and other producers were complying with agreed supply cuts.

Oil prices jumped on Thursday, but increasing U.S. crude stockpiles limited the rally from a one-week low after the International Energy Agency mentioned that oil markets had been reducing even before cuts agreed by OPEC and other producers took effect.

Chevron restarts operation at Gorgon LNG train 1 after an outage of a month
Chevron Corp declared on Wednesday it has restarted production of liquefied natural gas (LNG) at one of its two units at the $54 billion Gorgon project, situated off Western Australia, after an outage of a bit more than a month.

Daily: British gas prices rebound due to an unplanned outage
Oil prices declined slightly on Wednesday as investors doubted that OPEC will agree to an output reduction large enough to curb significantly the global glut of oil as U.S. drilling increases. Oil prices oscillated thorough the day, opening lower in the morning and later shortly turning positive after the EIA said U.S. crude inventories unexpectedly declined 1.3 million barrels last week after three consecutive weeks of rises. Brent crude futures lost 17 cents, or 0.35 percent to settle at $48.95 a barrel. The U.S. WTI crude oil futures fell 7 cents, or 0.2 percent, to end at $47.96 a barrel.
