Nabucco project obtains Hungarian permit

Hungary is now the first country to successfully finish the permitting process for the Nabucco project. The Nabucco pipeline will cross 384 km of Hungarian territory and has received the last environmental permit it needs to begin construction in the eastern European country. According to Managing Director of Nabucco Gas Pipeline International GmbH, Reinhard Mitschek, this is an important step forward for the project.

Novatek will sell natural gas to Germany’s EnBW

Russia’s second largest gas company Novatek has confirmed that it has entered in a long-term gas supply deal with Germany’s third largest electric utility Energie Baden-Württemberg (EnBW). Under the new contract, Novatek will supply about 2 billion cubic meters of gas per year to EnBW starting in October 2012 and for the next ten years to follow.

European liquefied natural gas will drop by 70% by 2015

European liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies will likely decrease by roughly 70% by 2015 as the Asian market absorbs more cargo demand. In the first six months of 2012, the European imports of liquefied natural gas supplies have decreased by 33%, while Asian imports registered a 16% rise.

RWE Dea starts the development drilling at Clipper South in UK

RWE Dea's subsidiary in the United Kingdom has announced the delivery of its first gas from its Clipper South field in the UK North Sea. The field is operated by RWE Dea (50% interest) and Fairfield Energy is also a partner in the field (25% interest).
